At the Y, membership means being part of a cause. Through member engagement, YMCAs provide the opportunities people need to become healthy, confident, and connected to others. Because Ys are deeply rooted in communities across the nation, they have the long-standing presence to engage people from all walks of life, regardless of age, gender, income, or background. Joining the Y, kids, adults, and families are encouraged by staff and one another to get involved in programs and activities, volunteerism, and philanthropy, and they become advocates of the Y's cause of strengthening community. It is our privilege, as YMCA staff, to prepare the way and nurture these deepening connections and involvements, helping members find meaningful activities that help them learn, grow, and thrive.
