The new Clothing Closet, 6110 S 99th E Ave, will be open Tuesday, Sept. 4 from 9 to 11 a.m.
The following is a message from CenterCross Church to volunteers concerning the new Clothing Closet program.
Hello all!
I just wanted to drop you a line and let you know how the first week went. An outstanding team of volunteers has assembled thus far to serve at the Clothing Closet, many from First Baptist and the CenterCross campus, as well as some from the Union community. It is a privilege be a part of something that provides an opportunity for people to serve one another. All volunteers have worked hard behind the scenes and graciously with our guests. It has been a remarkably smooth beginning.
As for our visitors, we were privileged to open our doors to adults each day of last week, which when counting the children for whom they were shopping, totaled 107 people in all. That is a high mark to begin with and we look forward to what the next few weeks hold! Much to our pleasure, a few of our visitors asked about bringing in clothing for donation. That is the very sense of community we hope takes root in this endeavor.
Though Union is not officially in session on Tuesday, September 4, we are making an exception to our schedule to be open so that parents and/or students can come by on that day during our normal hours, 9-11 a.m. We will also announce an evening in mid-late September when we will be open to accommodate working parents. Once a night is chosen, I will send out the information so we can organize volunteers.
Thank you so much for helping this become a reality in the community. Please continue to pray for the community to utilize the Clothing Closet and that relationships will begin to develop. Most importantly, pray that this continue to develop according to God's plans and that we listen and obey.
The new sign-up for September is on line and ready for your participation. You can find it at the following link:
