School hours for 2012-2013

Originally posted July 18, 2012
The Union Board of Education approved new school hours for the 2012-2013 school year Monday, May 14.

Most of the changes are merely adjustments, reflecting time adjustments that range from five to 10 minutes. However, the Board will consider a proposal to swap schedules for Darnaby and Grove to reduce traffic congestion at the Grove/6th-7th Grade area.

In an effort to ensure that buses have time to deliver and pick up students from school in a timely manner, the Transportation Department has recommended the adoption of the following schedule:

Monday-Thursday
Friday
6th Grade
7:50
2:35
8:15
2:35
7th Grade
9:05
3:50
9:30
3:50
8th Grade
9:05
3:50
9:30
3:50
9th Grade
8:25
3:10
8:50
3:10
High School (grades 10-12)
8:20
3:25
8:45
3:25
Elementary "A"
7:50
2:35
8:15
2:35
Andersen, Boevers, Briarglen, Clark, *Darnaby, McAuliffe, Peters, Rosa Parks
Elementary "B"
8:25
3:10
8:50
3:10
Cedar Ridge, *Grove, Jarman, Jefferson, Moore

The above times reflect a 10-minute later start time for the seventh and eighth grades, a five-minute later start time for the High School and a five-minute earlier time for elementary “A” sites. This proposal would help diminish the likelihood of buses being late in the morning and afternoon. Late buses have caused students to miss breakfast or instruction time.
Moving Darnaby to the earlier “A” schedule will reduce the amount of transportation time students there spend on the bus, while moving Grove to the “B” schedule will help alleviate traffic congestion that occurred this year because both Grove and the sixth grade had the same start and end times.
The schedule for Cedar Ridge, Jarman, Jefferson, and Moore, as well as 6th and 9th Grades, would remain unchanged
