Alternative School forum set March 29

Originally posted March 12, 2018

Chris Ducker, principal of the Union Alternative School, 5656 S. 129th E. Ave., will conduct a forum for students in grades 9-12 who have applied or who wish to apply to the Alternative School at 5:30 p.m. Thursday, March 29 in Building B at the school.

Any student living in the Union school district who is interested in attending the school for SY 17-18, will need to fill out an application and attend this meeting. If at all possible, parents should accompany the students to this forum.

Applications are available on-line or at the Alternative School on Mon-Thurs. 8 a.m. to 4 p.m.

At this forum, which will last for about 45 minutes, Ducker will provide a great deal of general info about alternative education.  At the end of the presentation, students and parents who are still interested in the program will be scheduled for a subsequent private interview to discuss their individual circumstances and to determine their level of need for the program.  Any student who is not currently enrolled in Union Public Schools will need to enroll at the Union Enrollment Center before their scheduled interview. The Enrollment Center is located on 61st St. between Mingo and Memorial streets.

Anyone who wants to be considered for entering the Alternative School needs to attend this forum.  Since we work in four-week blocks instead of semesters, we bring new students into the Alternative School monthly throughout the school year.
