Administration to recommend Option B for new start-end times

Originally posted May 10, 2019

Dear Parents, Guardians, and Staff,

Charlie BushyheadWe are grateful to all who provided feedback regarding the 2019-2020 start and end times for our school sites.  After review of the survey results and the accompanying comments, we will ask the Board of Education to consider and approve Option B for the new start and end times for next school year. The board meeting is on Monday, May 20, 2019, at 7:00 p.m.

Below is the Option B schedule that will be proposed:

7:40 a.m. – 2:25 p.m.      All Elementary Schools
8:10 a.m. – 3:11 p.m.     High School
8:15 a.m. – 3:00 p.m.     Union High School Freshman Academy
9:00 a.m. – 3:45 p.m.     7th Grade and 8th Grade
9:30 a.m. – 4:15 p.m.     6th Grade

The survey results indicate that Option C was clearly the least desirable of all three options.  The results of responses for “first choice” of Option A and Option B were extremely close. After reviewing the “second choice” votes, it was clear that Option B was the most desirable. It is also a choice that serves our students and teachers well.

We realize this proposal may not be your first choice and may impact your family.  Unfortunately, a change must occur so we can transport students in a safe and timely manner.  If you have any questions or comments please feel free to contact me at
