  • McAuliffe teacher an 'Unsung Hero'

    Merry Lahti is featured in "Tulsa People" magazine as an Unsung Hero! Congratulations!

    Lahti, a fifth-grade teacher at McAuliffe Elementary School, volunteers annually to work with children performing as part of Tulsa Ballet’s “The Nutcracker.”

  • HS drama competes in state contest Friday

    The Union High School Repertory Theater will perform Macbeth at 1:45 p.m. Friday, October 28, in state competition at Edmond North Memorial High School, after winning first place in regionals recently. Pictures

    “This is your last chance to see this play performed live by these students, so if you want to make the drive, we invite you to watch,” drama instructor Troy Powell said. The acting troupe will be defending their state title; Union High School won first in the state last year.

    Union won first place in regionals, earning “straight 1s” from all of the judges, Powell said. In addition, the technical crew won first as Best Tech and three students: Carly Hayes, Trevor Rodman and Jessie Myer, were named to the All Star Cast.

    Congratulations to the Union High School Repertory Theater and good luck at state this Friday!

  • Band to honor seniors; compete in state

    Union Bands will honor its senior class on Friday, October 28, at the home varsity football Game. Halftime activities will include a special recognition of senior band students on the field, with each student's name announced aloud. Following the recognition, the Renegade Regiment will perform its competitive program. Following halftime, seniors and their parents will enjoy a reception to reflect on their careers as Union Band members.

    The Union High School Marching Band will compete at the 2011 OBA Marching State Championship on Saturday, October 29. at the Broken Arrow High School Stadium.  The Renegade Regiment's preliminary performance is scheduled for 3:45 p.m, and the finals performance time has yet to be determined, but is anticipated to be scheduled between 8:30-10 p.m.  Please come out an support the Regiment this weekend.... more

  • Cow Patty Bingo

    Union Varsity Cheer is hosting its second annual Cow Patty Bingo and Chili Cook Off this Sunday from 2  to 5 p.m. at Pharridge Farm located near 103rd and Garnett.

    Help your 6A STATE CHAMPION CHEER squad reclaim their National Championship title by playing Cow Patty Bingo, eating some chili, playing putt-putt, painting faces, painting pumpkins and having a great time on a fall afternoon.

  • Foundation dinner, banquet set Nov. 12

    The Union Schools Education Foundation 13th annual dinner and auction is Saturday, November 12,  at the Wyndham Hotel, located at 41st street and HWY 169.  Reserve your ticket deadline by October 28.

    Please join us as we celebrate "The Wonderful World of Union" and showcase many of the student groups and organizations throughout the district.  Registration begins at 6:00 p.m., and dinner begins at 7:30 p.m.. 

    There will be hundreds of items to bid on in our silent auction, and many wonderful items, including a 51" plasma TV and dinner at a Tulsa Fire Station, in our live auction.  We will also feature the popular "Last Card Standing" game, with a chance to win a $500 Cunningham's Fine Jewelry gift certificate or a $300 gift card donated by TTCU. Individual tickets cost $60, and there are Corporate sponsorships available as well.  For more information about this wonderful event, please contact this year's Auction Chair, Debra Searcy, at (918) 688-0424 or via e-mail at searcdj@cox.net.
     
    The USEF was established in 1991 to raise and administer funds for educational purposes in the Union District.  Over the past 19 years, the Foundation's endowment balance has grown to nearly $1,000,000, enabling us to award classroom grants totaling more than $400,000 for innovative projects that otherwise would not have been possible

    The Lindsey Nicole Henry Scholarships for Students with Disabilities Act has become the center of a growing firestorm in the state - not just over the constitutionality of using public money for private schools but also about the overarching issue of school vouchers.
