    Jordan Matlock, a 2006 Union High School graduate, will appear on tonight's Hawaii 5-0.

  • ESL students learn about autumn festivities

    This morning, Wednesday, October 24, many English as Second Language students from Union’s Adult Learning Center took a trip to Carmichael’s pumpkin patch in Bixby. The trip allowed students to learn more about holiday festivities in the United States and gave them a chance to purchase items to celebrate autumn.

    Union’s Adult Learning Center offers free English as a Second Language and GED classes. Daycare is provided for many classes. www.unionalc.com

  • Donations sought for new Alternative class

    Union Alternative School is excited to announce a new class it is debuting this year: Life Skills.

    If anyone has any of the items listed below that they would be willing to donate to the classroom for Life Skills, please call science teacher Debra Beattie at Union Alternative Education School 918-357-7097: fabric, yarn, batting, thread, needles (hand and sewing machine) bobbins, straight pins, rippers, sewing patterns, scissors, pin cushions, tape measure, marking tools, mats with lines to cut on, sewing boxes, knitting needles and knitting rings, embroidery hoop, irons and ironing boards.

  • Fall at Andersen

    Brenda Angel, mother of Eric Copeland, an Andersen fourth grader in Kristina Dill's class,  took a picture of the sun shining on a tree in front of the school.  It is gorgeous.
    So, I sent it to Channel 2 in case they could show it as the “beginning of Fall” picture.

    AND, they did….last night, Thursday, October 25, at 5 p.m. during the weather segment!  Go Andersen!  Haha!

  • Grades for Tulsa area schools

    State-issued grades don't mesh with national recognition. Example: Although Union's Clark Elementary was one of three schools nationwide to receive the National Award of Excellence by the Coalition of Community Schools in Washington, D.C., last year, the school received a C under the new Oklahoma school grading system.

    Union High School was one of only two schools in Oklahoma to be named to the 2011 AP Honor Roll for expanding opportunity and improving performance for advanced placement students. The state Education Department gave the high school a B. See story inside.... more

  • Storm arrives today for Superhero Day

    A storm, or rather, the Storm arrived at the 8th Grade Center today - just in time for Superhero Day. Samantha Checotah, the school-based social worker for the 8th Grade, dressed as the Xmen superhero, Storm, who has the ability to control the weather. Students and staff dressed up today for Red Ribbon Week. More photos inside.

  • Governor offers compromise on school grades

    October 25, 2012
    The state Board of Education is expected to decide the fate of a new A-F school report card system Thursday, and when it does, it may have not two but three choices. Gov. Mary Fallin is advocating a new method of calculating school grades and referring to it as a "compromise" between the method first used by the Oklahoma State Department of Education and the way a coalition of more than 300 superintendents has sought. ... more
