    In light of the recent tragedy in Connecticut, we know that many Union parents may have questions regarding school safety and security.  We want you to be assured that Union Public Schools has made many preparations to deal effectively with emergency situations.  Our goal is to be as prepared as possible for any potential emergency.

    Please know that your child’s safety is always our number one priority.  Union is committed to continually reviewing and updating our emergency procedures to protect students and staff from harm.

  • PTA asks parents to complete survey

    The advocacy department of the Oklahoma PTA has made a survey for parents to take regarding the A-F Grading Report Card. Please go to the www.okpta.org website and take the survey. It is on the home page in the column on the left. It will only take you a few minutes to do and we are asking you to ask any and everyone to take this survey. The data OK PTA gets back from this survey will help us with legislation in the 2013 session when legislators are making amendments to bill HB1456.

    The Union High School Vocal Music department will present it's Winter Concert on Tuesday, December 18, at 7 p.m. in the Union Performing Arts Center, 6636 S. Mingo.   • Condolences to Newtown

    Union Public Schools sends its heartfelt condolences to all those affected by the tragedy today in Newtown, Conn. As a school district, we can only imagine what a difficult time this is for the Newtown community.

    Understandably, parents, teachers and staff throughout the country are asking what safety measures their schools have in place. In the last several years, Union completed installation of a secure entrance into each of our school buildings. At all sites, visitors are required to check in at the front desk prior to being given access into the building. All secondary schools have a full-time security officer, and School Resource Officers are available for all school sites.

    Given the open nature of the High School campus, additional security officers are stationed throughout the building to ensure everyone there is identified and has an approved reason to be there. All school sites have regularly scheduled emergency drills, including Intruder on Campus procedures.

    The goal has been, and continues to be, a safe learning environment for our students, staff, and patrons. ... more
